Computing and IT Support
If you experience IT issues or have a computer-related query during your time at St. Anne's, the resources and contacts listed below may prove useful.
College and University IT Manuals
As a first port of call, it may be worth checking the college and university IT guides to see if your issue or query has been addressed there.
The college Computing and IT Office publish an IT manual for St. Anne's students, which you should definitely familiarise yourself with before using the college network.
At the university level, the Oxford University Computing Services (OUCS) website contains a wealth of information on IT and services offered at the university level. Their "Welcome to IT" guide is particularly useful if you've just joined the university, and they have an extensive guide to setting up and using email at Oxford. OUCS also offer many other IT-related services; see further below for more information.
MCR Computer Representative
Please feel free to contact the MCR's Computer Representative with any questions you may have regarding IT at Oxford or with questions about this website. The current Computer Representative, Nina Hafer, may be reached by emailing computer [at] st-annes-mcr.org.uk.
College Computing and IT Office
If you have an IT-related issue that needs to be addressed by college, you should speak to the college IT staff. The person to contact is Ian Burnell, who may be reached by emailing it-support [at] st-annes.ox.ac.uk or phoning 01865 284527. You can also visit the contact page for the college Computing and IT Office.
Oxford University Computing Services (OUCS)
The Oxford University Computing Services (OUCS) website has not only a wealth of information on IT at Oxford, but also acts as a gateway to many services. These include:
- A breakdown repair service.
- An automated data backup system.
- Many IT training courses, from beginner to advanced.
OUCS also have physical offices where you can access the Internet, speak to someone at the helpdesk, order poster prints, and much more. The address, opening hours, travel directions, and contact information of their office may be found at the OUCS contact page.
Finally, be sure to check out the OUCS self-registration page, where you can do things such as reset your email password, set up automated backups, and download software such as Sophos Anti-Virus.
