Some of the more popular MCR social events require signing up in advance, and some also require a fee to participate. Please read the guidelines below to find out how to sign up and pay for MCR social events, as well as what to do if you need to cancel after signing up.

Signing up

Many events run by the MCR will require you to sign up beforehand. Usually you will receive an email through the MCR mailing list advertising an event such as a dinner or a trip. You may then sign up by replying to that email. Please reply as soon as possible, because many events (such as dinners) have limited space and these are often distributed on a "first-come, first-served" basis.

After the sign-up period has passed (usually a couple of days), you will receive another email listing the participants. Depending on how quickly you have replied, you either will be on the list for the event or on a waiting list for it. If you are signing up for a dinner, please state your dietary requirements in your reply.

Payment

Once you have made it onto the list of participants for an event, you will be required you have to pay the correct amount before attending. Please see our payments page for more details on how to pay event fees.

After the MCR treasurer (Karen Heath, treasurer [at] st-annes-mcr.org.uk) receives your payment, you'll receive a ticket to the event in your pigeon hole in EPH. Once that happens, you're ready to go!

Cancellations

If you are listed for an event and can't attend, you must give advance notice to the MCR committee member organising it. Usually (though not always) this is one of the Social Secretaries, Johnny Drain, Gavin Jamieson, and Becky Driscoll.

If you cancel 48 hours or more before the event, you will not be liable for payment. However, if you cancel within 48 hours, the MCR will try to find a replacement (usually from the waiting list). If we cannot find someone else who wants to take your place, you will be asked to pay for your place even if you do not attend. Please do not attempt to find your own replacement: waiting lists can be quite long, so if you have found a friend who wants to go instead, please inform the person in charge of the event first.
